£2,000 to enable students from Liverpool to study at the Library.
Gladstone’s Library is Britain’s only Prime Ministerial library and was founded by the Victorian statesman, William Ewart Gladstone. Gladstone was a lifelong student and scholar, as well as a reader and collector of books and built up a remarkable personal library reflecting his wide ranging interests.
The library, which Gladstone bequeathed to the nation, was entirely his own creation. He wanted to ensure that anyone who would benefit from a period of study should not be prevented from doing so by financial constraint. Holt Education Trust is providing funding to enable Liverpool students to use the facilities and study at the library.
