Holt Education Trust
The Holt Education Trust was established as a memorial to Alfred and Philip Holt, founders of Ocean Steam Ship Company Ltd in Liverpool. Both brothers had a strong interest in education which was reflected in the original Trust Deed of 1915; the Trust’s income would be used solely for ‘the promotion and encouragement of higher education among the people of Merseyside’.
The Trust was managed independently until 2012, when it became a subsidiary charity of the PH Holt Foundation.
Holt Education Trust has an established programme of bursaries to Merseyside students studying sciences and vocational training at institutions which have a strong association with the Trust. With the exception of students previously supported by the Trust, we are no longer open to grant applications.
